What is Sublimation Printing?
Why Choose Sublimation?
- Durability: Unlike traditional printing methods where the design might crack or fade, sublimation ensures that your creation lasts longer.
- Quality: The level of detail and vibrancy of colors achieved with sublimation printing is higher quality. Your designs will come to life just as you envisioned.
- Flexibility: Sublimation works on a variety of materials, giving you the freedom to customize a wide range of products.
How Sublimation Printing Works?
- Design Creation: Everything starts with uploading your idea to transform it into a digital design.
- Transfer to Paper: This design is then printed onto special transfer paper using sublimation inks.
- Heat Press: The design on the paper is transferred onto your chosen product using heat. The high temperature turns the ink into gas, which then becomes part of the material.
- Final Product: What you get is an incredibly vibrant, sharp image that’s as durable as the material itself.

Preparing Your Design for Sublimation Printing
- Resolution: Start with high-resolution images. Aim for 300 dpi (dots per inch) for the sharpest print quality. However, a minimum of 150 dpi is also acceptable, especially for larger items like blankets.
- Color Space: Use the Adobe RGB color space when saving your files. This color space offers a wide range of colors, ensuring your printed items reflect the vibrant hues you see on your screen.
- Image Size: Your images should be sized at 100% of the final product dimensions. This means if you’re designing for a pillow that’s 18×18 inches, your image should also be 18×18 inches at the resolution you’ve chosen, plus any bleed areas.
Specific Requirements
- Pillows: Include a 0.25″ bleed around your design. This extra margin is essential for sewing and ensures that your design fully covers the pillow without any white edges showing.
- Blankets: Custom picture blankets require a larger bleed of 1.25″. This extra space around the edge of your design compensates for the material taken up in the sewing process, ensuring the design extends to the edges of the blanket.
- Metal Prints: For premium and economy gloss metal prints, do not include a bleed in your design. Matte metal prints should have a 0.06667 inch bleed in the print file. This ensures your artwork is perfectly aligned and displayed without any cropping or framing issues.
